Mercedes air pump

I have a 1977 Mercedes 280E. I took the air pump off about 400 miles ago because it was noisy and I assumed wearing out. What will be affected if I run without one? Will I damage anything? Thank you.

If your talking about the smog pump, then you could cause damage to your exhaust system. Your causing damage to the air quality, and as long as you don't mind making it harder for your kids and mine to breathe, I guess it doesn't matter.

It was put on for a reason No? Fix it right!!!! Rplace it!
