What's The Difference?
The domestics are good, but the imported domestics, Honda, Toyota and other that are building here seem to have decent quality here too.
Traditional GM and Ford are beginning to get better but they still can'y seem to build a good small car without it appearing to be cheap. But the US still builds better trucks than the imports at a better price point.
European cars still are crap. Volvo, Saab, MB and most of the rest build so much complexity into their cars that it cost at leat 2 Grand to get anything fixed. NONE of them are reliable and all need constant, careful maintenance. MB's used to be great, I own a 58 that can be fixed by me with little problems other than parts prices. A new MB doesn't even have a dipstick to check the oil. The new fortwo thing is going to be a joke.
I own two Mazda 929's, a Subaru Forester, an 83 MB diesel, A 58 MB Ponton and a 2003 GMC truck. The truck is getting the most use right now and has been trouble free for 85000 miles.
