The History of Scion
Scion, founded in 2003, is a division of Toyota Motor Corporation that is only available in the United States. Scion is Toyotas attempt to speak directly to a young (Generation Y) American consumer. Pricing is aimed at those on a limited budget who desire style and attitude. The chief sales position for Scion is Pure Price—the price is posted in any advertisement or in the show room is the price the consumer will pay. This includes the vehicle, accessories, finance and insurance costs, which eliminates the need for price negotiations. The thought is the old, "What you see, is what you get." which appeals to many inexperienced, first time buyers. There are currently three models of the Scion available, the Scion xA, xB and the tC. Scion’s xA and xB have been well received by those consumers that were unimpressed with other available entry level cars and the tC reports brisk sales as well.
Scion has succeeded in generating excitement from a hard-to-reach market. Post Production accessories available directly from Scion and other after-market companies have products available to Scion owners.
