Product Spotlight: Serpentine Belt Tensioners
Most late model cars have serpentine belts for there engine driven accessories. We all know that these belts eventually wear out and need replacement. But did you know the spring loaded automatic tensioner that keeps your belts tight is also needs replacement over time?
Your belt tensioner has a coil spring inside that applies force against the belt to keep it tight. The tensioner acts as a shock absorber and cushions the shock load on the belt that occurs when the A/C compressor clutch cycles on and off. The tensioner also automatically compensates for wear and keeps the belt under constant tension.
